Wortschatz Intensivtrainer A1
Wortschatz Intensivtrainer A1 is the vocabulary intensive trainer for the first level of German: the A1 word-hoard — roughly the first thousand words of the language — drilled intensively, in themes, with the variety of exercise forms that makes words stay.
Vocabulary at A1 is not decoration on the grammar; it is the substance of survival: the words for family and food, house and town, time and weather, body and clothes, work and free time — everything a beginner needs to name their world. This trainer teaches them the intensive way: met in context, practised in several forms, and returned to until retrieval is instant.
It is written for A1 learners in courses and alone, children and adults, and for the candidates of A1 examinations, whose wordlists are exactly this book’s contents turned into training.

Intensive trainers earn the name by density of encounter: a word met once is a stranger, met five ways in a week it is a possession. This volume organises the A1 vocabulary by the themes of beginner life and then works each theme hard — matching, gap-filling, sorting, sentence-building, picture work — so that recognition becomes recall and recall becomes use. Articles travel with their nouns as they must in German, plurals are learned as part of the word, and the exercise keys make the whole programme self-teaching. Beside a coursebook it is the vocabulary gymnasium the course assumes but never provides; before an A1 examination it is the checklist and the drill in one. Teachers set it as the homework that marks itself; self-teachers discover that twenty minutes with it outperforms an hour of list-reading, because words are trained here the way memory actually accepts them: in company, in action, in return.

About This Book
A1 German stands or falls by its words: the grammar of the level is small, but the world it must name is entire. The Wortschatz Intensivtrainer is the systematic answer — the level’s whole vocabulary, themed, pictured, and intensively trained until a beginner’s word-hoard is not studied but owned.
What Learners Will Train
The Themes of Beginner Life
Word-fields in the order life presents them: people and family, home and household, food and drink, school and work, town and transport, nature and weather, the body and health, time in all its forms — each theme a complete little world of German.
Words With Their Grammar Attached
Every noun arrives with its article and plural, every verb with its company — because in German a word without its gender is half a word, and this trainer refuses to teach halves.
Exercise Variety as Method
Matching, sorting, completing, building, and using — the forms rotate so that each word is retrieved, not merely recognised, from several directions; recognition is the foyer of vocabulary, retrieval is the house.
Key Features
Completeness at the level is the feature: the A1 word-hoard entire, examinable against any A1 list. Intensity is the second — multiple encounters per word, engineered — and the self-teaching key the third, which makes the trainer a complete programme without a classroom.
Who This Book Is For
It is for A1 learners of German in courses and alone, candidates preparing for Goethe-Zertifikat A1 and similar examinations, children in German programmes, and teachers needing structured vocabulary homework with answers.
How to Use This Book
One theme at a time, all its exercises, answers checked on the spot; then speak the theme — describe your own kitchen, family, town with its words — because a theme spoken once is worth two themes read. Return to finished themes monthly at speed: the returns are quick, and they are where ‘intensive’ pays its dividend in permanence.
